Jeanie's a fan! |

Jacques,
I finished one of the charts that I had recently ordered via your
website. It was of the Tokyo Tower and I framed it for my
sister, who visited Japan last year.
She loves it!!!
Thank you so much,
Jeanie

What a great cross stitch project!
Best photos for portraits are close-ups where the face occupies most of the picture. This way you will get maximum stitch definition (the number of stitches that define the face). We suggest cropping your photo before converting it into a chart. Avoid group portraits where every face is tiny in the picture.

Mary and Ben |
 |
|
This very realistic picture was stitched on Aida 18ct. The finer the count of the fabric, the best results you will get when stitched.
Light plays an important role too. There's a beautiful soft light on these children faces. Avoid photos where part of the face is in the shade.

Country home |

A portrait of our " childhood home". Houses make great projects for stitching and make very personal gifts that bring up fond memories. Other ideas include favorite views, landscapes, monuments.

This classic view was cross-stitched by Stuart (Sydney, Australia) from a picture he took after travelling for 6 weeks in the American South West.

Amelie's cat |
 |
|
The background of this picture was removed by Amelieparis to make the cat stands out as it walks gracefully past us. You can either have Amelieparis touch up your picture or you can simply leave out the background of your chart, as you stitch. A color chart will be helpful in this case to identify the stitches that belong to the background.

peonies |

This needlework project, completed by a cross-stitcher in Brighton (UK) shows some lovely peonies from a garden. Flowers and gardens can be an endless source of inspiration for photo-to-chart conversions in cross stitch.

Pat saw this American flag flying over the Delaware river, near Washington's crossing, on a gorgeous day. Now it hangs in her home.
